Rabbit food
Sunday, April 8: After working up an appetite on the egg hunt, let someone else make dinner. The Greenhouse Cafe is serving a big Easter meal for the whole family. For one fixed price, you’ll get appetizers, a main course — they’ve got lamb! — and a dessert. Unfortunately, hollow chocolate bunnies are not being served. No word on the BYO policy there.
2 pm–10 pm the Greenhouse Cafe (7717 Third Ave. at 77 Street in Bay Ridge). Adults $32, children $14.95. For information, call (718) 833-8200.
Just a Peep
Monday, April 9: While everyone else is scouring the drug store for half-price leftover candy, you can mosey over to Jacques Torres to buy a four-pack of the delicious chocolate-covered Peeps. They might cost more than a bargain bag of candy eggs, but they’re worth every penny.
$4 at Jacques Torres (66 Water St. at Main Street in DUMBO). For information, call (718) 875-9772.
Harriet’s hip hop
Tuesday, April 10: We don’t know Harriet, but her alter ego is always up to something. This time, the clothing store / gallery is exhibiting the photography of Jamel Shabazz and Akintola Hanif in a show called “More Fear: The Final Call,” which explores the lives of neglected people in New York.
Through May at Harriet’s Alter Ego (293 Flatbush Ave. at St. Marks Place in Park Slope). For information, call (718) 783-2074.
Snacks at Smack
Thursday, April 12: So what if you’re not in Cancun for Spring Break, it doesn’t meant you can’t party with the best of ‘em! DUMBO gallery Smack Mellon is going to be hosting their “Neighborhood Spring Party,” stocked with food from Almondine, Bubby’s, Rice and more, beer from Slyfox, Kelso and Ramstein, the evenr-present art and, last but not least, muck spun by DJ leatherpets. It might not be the MTV Beach House, but it sure sounds like a nice break to us.
5 pm–8pm at Smack Mellon (92 Plymouth St. at Washington Street in DUMBO). For information, call (718) 834-8761.
Word up
Friday, April 13: With the recent bar boom on Franklin Street, we know that Greenpointers like to drink, but apparently they can read, too. Word, an adorable bookshop, has opened on the newly bustling strip and is stocked with stationary, gifts and more. Keep an eye on the store, as it will soon host book clubs, author events and workshops.
Word (126 Franklin St. at Milton Street in Greenpoint) is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am–7 pm and Sunday from noon–6 pm. For information, call (718) 383-0096 or visit
