Saturday, September 15: Make sure to study up on “Night of the Living Dead” before you head over to the “Zombieville III” party tonight at Southpaw. Bands like the Teenage Prayers and the Teeth (pictured) will supply the undead tunes while videos and other flesh-eating fun will come courtesy of hosts Gabe and Jenny.

Sunday, September 16: If a day at the Brooklyn Book Festival left you aching for books from a simpler time, drop into the Brooklyn Historical Society to check out “Mother Goose in an Air Ship: 19th Century Children’s Books.” The exhibit is made up over 80 books and games from the 19th and 20th century, focusing on the work of the Williamsburg-based McLoughlin brothers.

Tuesday, September 18: Sure, it means waking up a bit earlier, but it’s all worth it to get that little “I Voted” sticker and to, you know, make a difference in how the city is run. See page 1 for info on the candidates vying for the open surrogate judgeship in the borough.

Thursday, September 20: We love the Belgian block streets of DUMBO, and since we don’t mind boxing, silent auctions or snacks, either, we’ll be heading over to the “DUMBO Fight Night” fundraiser. They’re collecting cash for the DUMBO Improvement District to save the nabe’s signature stones.

Friday, September 21: Ride your bike over to Borough Hall this afternoon for the third annual “Green Brooklyn” event. Workshops, panel discussions, giveaways and a raffle should make this an energy efficient way to spend the afternoon.
