A new ‘tradition’
Sunday, December 13: The folks from the “Broadway Musical Fantasy Camp,” a workshop for amateurs who always wanted to be in a Broadway show, bring the fun to Union Temple for, what else?, a performance of “Fiddler on the Roof” (with a real rabbi in the Tevye role, even).
4 pm. “Fiddler on the Roof” at Union Temple [17 Eastern Pkwy. between Plaza Street East and Underhill Avenue, (718) 638-7600]. Tickets, $20. “Latke and vodka” reception at 3 pm.
One hot talk
Tuesday, December 15: He’s been in the Times and in the Post trashing “cap and trade,” but world-renowned NASA climatologist James Hansen is also one of the leading believers in global warming — which even W. believes is happening, so stop denying! He’ll speak tonight near the Gowanus. Maybe he can advocate for fixing the canal, too!
8 pm. Secret Science Club at The Bell House [149 Seventh St. at Third Avenue in Gowanus, (718) 643-6510],

Hip hop church
Wednesday, December 16: Sure, he hails from the Bronx, but you gotta love rapper KRS-One. An originator of Boogie Down Productions, he later turned his attention to Stop the Violence, his response to thuggery among 1990s rap artists. Now he’s pitching an 800-page Bible, “The Gospel of Hip Hop: First Instrument,” which is a little out there, but, hey, it’s KRS-One, live, in Brooklyn.
7 pm. KRS-One at PowerHouse Arena [37 Main St. between Front and Water streets in DUMBO, (718) 666-3049].
Cary on!
Friday, December 18: If you’ve never seen “His Girl Friday,” you simply must see this classic Howard Hawks screwball comedy. First of all, it’s about the newspaper business (in the good ol’ days, not like today). Second, Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell fire off one-liners like Gatling guns. Best of all, it’s cynical and funny in ways that today’s comedies just aren’t.
2, 4:30, 6:50 and 9:15 pm. Brooklyn Academy of Music [30 Lafayette Ave. near St. Felix Street in Fort Greene, (718) 636-4100],
www.bam.org. Tickets, $11.
Sheep station
Saturday, December 19: You don’t have to be religious — heck, you don’t even have to believe in God! — to get a kick out of the annual “Living Nativity Scene” at the New Utrecht Reformed Church, which is also one of the oldest churches in the borough. Join live animals, live Magi, a live Mary and Joseph and, alas, a Jesus doll at this great event.
3–6 pm. Living nativity scene. New Utrecht Reformed Church [18th Avenue at 83rd Street in Bensonhurst, (718) 236-0678].
