Saturday, July 17: The Siren Music Festival returns for a day of hot, loud music one block from the cooling waters of the Atlantic. To mark the milestone, the now-huge punk pop duo Matt and Kim (pictured) will headline the same stage that hosted them in 2007, when they were quite a few names down on the bill. Also check out one band whose name we can’t even print (the first word is holy, the second rhymes with duck).

Sunday, July 18: 3rd Ward’s annual free hog barbecue, featuring five bands, beer, and, of course, a whole pig, returns to the Bushwick space with chef Alex McCrery, of the food truck The Goods, will be manning the pit at this urban pig roast. “It’s our biggest event of the year, and the whole pig is a lot of fun,” said Jessica Pom, the marketing director for 3rd Ward. “It’s truly an urban pig roast.” The Ramblers, a Brooklyn take on CCR, will provide the tunes.

Monday, July 19: Opera on Tap is known for taking opera out of stuffy opera houses and bringing it where it belongs (in bars). Now, the group is bringing “The Barber of Seville” to the Old Stone House. No, it won’t be the standard three-plus hour performance, but rather a palatable one-hour version that goes down easy with kids and beer.

Wednesday, July 21: Is there a more seminal Brooklyn underworld movie than “The French Connection”? Sure, it makes the borough look like a crime-ridden cesspool, but it’s got Gene Hackman as Popeye Doyle, and it has the greatest car chase scene in the history of cinema, as he chases an elevated train. There’s no better place to watch the carnage than in the delightful backyard at Enoteca on Court.

Thursday, July 22: Nothing says summer like The Beach Boys — so perhaps it’s fitting that the iconic surfer band of the 1960s is catching yet another wave at Borough President Markowitz’s summer concert series. Though the “Boys” exist only in name — and in the voice of former frontman Mike Love — this is still a cooking show with all the hits: “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” “California Girls,” and “Good Vibrations.”
