Kicking off Brooklyn Center for the Performing
Arts’ 50th anniversary season, Leslie Uggams performed Nov. 20
at Brooklyn College’s Walt Whitman Theater.
In addition to the thrill of the performance by the Tony Award-winning
artist (1968’s "Hallelujah, Baby!"), the audience appreciated
the long overdue $4 million in renovations to the theater itself
(at left), including refurbished seats, new sound and lighting
equipment and new carpeting.
The next Brooklyn Center event is the Moscow Classical Ballet’s
production of "The Nutcracker" on Nov. 28 at 3 pm.
The theater is located on the campus of Brooklyn College, one
block from the junction of Nostrand and Flatbush avenues in Flatbush.
