One mile of waterfront land moved from one state hand to another this week when the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey formally handed over four Brooklyn Heights piers to the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation.
The transfer of title puts brings the waterfront housing, commercial and open space development one step closer to reality, at least on paper. A panoply of Brooklyn pols were on hand, including Borough President Markowitz (at podium above), flanked by Mayor Bloomberg, state Sen. Marty Golden (R-Bay Ridge), Empire State Development Corporation head Charles Gargano and Gov. Pataki.
