Spooky buccaneers and buried treasure set
the theme for this year’s fifth annual Halloween celebration
in front of the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
"We’re looking forward to this year’s crazy costumes, and
we’re planning some wonderful games and activities for all the
trick-or-treaters," said BAM President Karen Brooks Hopkins.
Tuesday’s "BAMboo!" extravaganza will showcase a variety
of corsair-inspired events such as pirate hat-making, a treasure
hunt, a ring toss and a "Pirate Cove Moonbounce," as
well as festive pumpkin bowling, carnival games and a candy giveaway.
Street performers - such as the machete-juggling Zig Zag Brothers
from New York Sketches (pictured) - and costumed BAM staff will
provide entertainment for the 3,000 revelers expected to attend
the outdoor event. The celebration will end with the costume
contest, when prizes will be awarded.
"BAMboo!" will take place on Oct. 31, from 4 to 7 pm,
in front of the Brooklyn Academy of Music (30 Lafayette Ave.
at Ashland Place in Fort Greene). For more information, call
(718) 636-4100 or visit the Web site www.BAM.org.
