BEST COSTUME?

The Brooklyn Paper
Fort Greene Park is adding its local flavor to the trick-or-treat grab bag with its seventh annual "Halloween Festival."

The free event, to be held Saturday on the park’s Great Lawn, boasts African drumming from Fusha Dance Company, stilt-walkers, clowns and jugglers provided by Cirque Boom Circus Theatre, and storytellers from Salt & Pepper Mime - all local, Fort Greene-based arts organizations.

Along with the performances, the celebration will include some of the more traditional ingredients such as pony rides, costumes and tasty prizes.

"Favorite activities include selecting and decorating a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, hayrides and face painting," Fort Greene Park Conservancy committee member Greg Trupiano told GO Brooklyn. "Kids should definitely wear their costumes and join in the costume parade and prize giveaway that starts at 2 o’clock."

The "Halloween Festival" will take place Oct. 28, from noon to 3 pm, at the Great Lawn of Fort Greene Park (enter at DeKalb Avenue and Washington Park). For more information on this free event, call (718) 222-1461 or visit www.fortgreenepark.org.
