The body of heroic Virginia Tech professor Liviu Librescu is carried through the streets of Borough Park on Wednesday before his funeral. Librescu, 76, a Holocaust survivor, barred his classroom door to give his students time to escape.

Librescu’s Brooklyn funeral was arranged by a Jewish organization that was transporting his body for burial in Israel. Assemblyman Dov Hikind (photo, far right) gave the sole eulogy. The Virginia Tech shooting occurred on Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Memorial Day
