Inspired by the parlor culture of the 18th and 19th century, the Brave New World Repetory Salon Series harks back to a sophisticated era where salon gatherings were the choice entertainment for a night out (or a night in, more accurately).
Brave New World’s first three seasons added class to local nightlife thanks to performances of “The Great White Hope” and “To Kill a Mockingbird,” among others.
But this season’s repertoire is taking the salon theme even further. Not only will the Brooklyn-based Equity actors be performing readings of classic works, including “Hotel Paridiso,” “Waiting for Godot,” “An Ideal Husband” and “Much Ado About Nothing” — but two of the performances will be in a house in Ditmas Park and another will be at the Old Stone House in Park Slope. Each evening includes dinner and wine to provide ample opportunities for dignified dialogue.
