Her church medals are swiped in unholy heist

for The Brooklyn Paper

An 81-year-old woman was robbed of her expensive religious medals while walking home from church on Aug. 26.

The woman told cops she on Marine Avenue, near 97th Street, at 3:50 pm when a man ran up to her, swiped the spiritual jewelry off her neck, and ran away.

The jewelry included a “miraculous medallion,” which was valued at $500, and a cross pendant, which was valued at $320.

Drunk assault

Talk about a next day hangover!

A 50-year-old man was walking home from a Fifth Avenue bar when he was punched in the face and robbed on Aug. 21.

The trouble began at around 10:45 pm, when the victim left the bar, which is near 94th Street, and was immediately confronted by two perps.

One of the teens brandished a knife while the other ripped the victim’s wallet out of his pants. After the thugs got the wallet, they punched the man twice in the face before taking off on foot, said cops.

The thieves made off with $200 and the victims driver’s license.

The man was treated for minor bruising and had difficulty giving a description after admitting to police he was “slightly intoxicated.”

Jewelry bandit

A 42-year-old woman says her apartment was robbed on Aug. 22.

The victim left her Marine Avenue unit, which is near 89th Street, for work, but when she returned 10 hours later, she discovered that her front door had been broken and a jewelry box and $160 had been stolen.

Clubbed

A 21-year-old man told cops he was walking by a Fifth Avenue bar at 4 am on Aug. 26, when the bar’s bouncer cracked him in the mouth with a flashlight.

The man, who was treated for injuries to his jaw and mouth, said the attack was unprovoked.

Police interviewed witnesses at the bar, which is near 87th Street.

Unwelcome

An 86-year-old woman says her Ridge Boulevard apartment was robbed while she was on vacation this month.

The victim left the unit, which is near 74th Street, to enjoy some rest and relaxation only to return on Aug. 22 to discover her door pried open and two bracelets stolen, according to cops.

In all, the thieves got off with $250 worth of goods.
