We were always told that you had to be quiet in the library. But judging by the concert series on its newly restored front plaza, the Brooklyn Public Library seems to have something else in mind.

“We’ve had classical music and jazz concerts, but we’re taking it to a larger scale,” said Meredith Walters, Manager of Adult Programs.

The concert series on the recently completed patio of the BPL’s central branch kicked off last week and will run through Sept. 23, after which the cold weather will move everything indoors.

Before that can happen, though, two more concerts will fill the 300-seat space.

If you’re busy studying inside, don’t worry about the noise pollution. “We’re setting up the stage in a way that there shouldn’t be a lot of [noise] bleed,” said Walters. Besides, with the gorgeous new front sitting area, “You can go outside and read!”

Band of Thieves and Harry and the Potters will play at 2 pm on Sept. 15 at the Brooklyn Public Library’s central branch (on Grand Army Plaza at Eastern Parkway). Free. For information, visit www.brooklynpublicli....
