A nyone unlucky enough to be called for jury duty knows that finding a quick, tasty meal near the courthouses isn’t easy. But now, thanks to Suzanne Meehan and Yasmin Gur, owners of Windsor Terrace’s Crossroads Cafe, all that is about to change.

The partners are planning on converting a retired shoeshine kiosk (209 Joralemon St. between Court and Adams streets in Downtown Brooklyn) behind Borough Hall into a takeout counter for their healthy treats by Dec. 1.

“We’re going to offer people-on-the-run a healthier option,” said Meehan, discussing the muffins and scones from SoHo’s Balthazar Bakery, gourmet coffee and tea, and high-end juices that will be available.

But while we’re waiting for the Crossroads cart to open, there’s plenty else to munch on. Epoca (773 Fulton St. at South Portland Avenue in Fort Greene, (718) 596-9070) has just started serving its winter menu, which includes tuna with brandy and green apples as well as a chianti risotto that sounds too good to be true.

If dining in is more your style, get ready to carbo-load in Carroll Gardens. Famed restaurateur Joseph Chirico (Marco Polo Ristorante) will be opening Marco Polo to Go in mid-November.

“We’ll be serving brick oven pizza and all kind of Italian delicacies and homemade desserts,” said Chirico. “We want to try and make something fast for people to take home.”

And if you want your meals brought to you, Fort Greene resident Quiana Richardson has just launched her new home delivery service, My Healthy Sport, which will bring prepared meals right to your door. Dishes like chocolate-hazelnut crepes with fresh strawberries (only 155 calories) and a grilled flank steak served with Gorgonzola cheese (300 calories) should fill you up without weighing you down. Looking for something to wash down all this new food? Drop into the Blackbird Parlour Cafe (197 Bedford Ave. at North Sixth Street in Williamsburg) for coffee, a smoothie or a late night glass of wine. GO Brooklyn was there last week and the spot, which is still brand new, was already teeming.

Epoca just released their summer menu. They have live jazz on Thursday night starting at 8:00 p.m. The chef is no longer there. Hope the food lives up to its expectations.
