Well, it’s about time.
This ugly, 16-foot-high corrugated aluminum Department of Transportation fence on Front Street will finally get a facelift thanks to a competition being run by the DUMBO Improvement District.
The local civic organization and the city agency are looking for an artist to create a mural to hide the eyesore. The fence was erected to hide another eyesore, a DOT equipment yard located under the bridge.
The Improvement District is offering $9,000 to the artist who designs the winning proposal.
The deadline for proposals is Nov. 28. For information, call (718) 237-8700 or visit http://www.dumbonyc.org/press.php
