del.icio.usA short trip to do errands gave burglars enough time to enter a man’s Clinton Street apartment and steal more than $2,500 worth of electronics on Dec. 5.
The 29-year-old victim told cops that he left the apartment, which is between Third and Fourth places, at around 12:30 pm. But when he returned an hour later, he found a back window open, the apartment ransacked and his Dell laptop and iPhone stolen.
On second thought
Two young thugs learned that it’s still a crime to steal, even though they didn’t hold onto their booty for very long.
The two girls, one 12 and the other 15, approached a 31-year-old woman from behind on Butler Street between Court and Smith streets, and pulled her hair before snatching her pocketbook at around 7 pm on Dec. 3.
But the victim didn’t give up. In spite of lacerations on her right hand, she chased the minor miscreants down the street and got them to drop the stolen purse while they fled.
Police say they arrested the two culprits later that night.
Easy choice
It was easy for a construction worker to decide what to do when a gun-toting gang demanded, “Give me your money or die,” at a Luquer Street work site on Dec. 6.
The 49-year-old victim handed over $180, credit cards and his cellphone to three men, one of whom brandished a silver handgun, in the 2:45 pm incident between Columbia and Hicks street.
One of the perps was described as a 5-foot-9 black man. There was no description for the other two men.
Movie scar
A burglar stole a man’s cherished entertainment system from a West Ninth Street on Dec. 3, cops said.
The 24-year-old resident of the apartment, which is between Columbia and Hicks street, told cops that the crime must have occurred between 8:30 am and 7:30 pm, when he came home to discover that the thief had ripped open the bars on his bathroom window.
Lost in the burglary was a Sony Playstation system, assorted video games, a DVD player, a camera and various CDs.
