Big news, Shakespeare-loving Trekkies: hairless heartthrob Patrick Stewart (aka Captain Picard from “Star Trek: The Next Generation”) takes the title role in “MacBeth,” which lands at the Harvey on Feb. 12

While they may not spot “The Worm,” anyone who’s up and out by 10 am on Saturday, Dec. 15 can catch some impressive dance moves at Purelement’s second annual “Open House Winter Festival.” Until 4 pm, the group will present African dance, a Lindy Hop instructor, belly dancing and more, and it’s all for free at JHS 117 (300 Willoughby Ave. at Kent Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant). Long Island University is also getting into the spirit. On Dec. 21 and 22, the Kumble Theater (at the corner of DeKalb Avenue and Flatbush Avenue Extension in Downtown Brooklyn) will host “Follow the Star,” a gospel musical starring stage, screen and television actress Carol Woods. Brooklyn Bridge Realty

On Dec. 21, the Narrows Community Theater presents its “Ensemble Christmas Review” at Christ Church (7301 Ridge Blvd. at 73rd Street in Bay Ridge) featuring theater, song, dance and the premiere of “The Nutty Cracker,” the group’s take on the holiday classic. And just because the winter break is upon us doesn’t mean that local theater companies are resting. In fact, one of them is reaching out to a playwright resting in peace. The Ryan Repertory Company will perform Eileen Fischer’s “The Perfect Medium,” a show about an Irish journalist who communicates with the long-dead Oscar Wilde, on Dec. 28 and 29 at the Harry Warren Theatre (2445 Bath Ave. at Bay 38th Street in Bath Beach). Over at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the stars are aligning for its spring season. Samuel Beckett’s “Happy Days” kicks things off on Jan. 8 at the BAM Harvey Theater (651 Fulton St. at Rockwell Place in Fort Greene).
