What’s that delicious aroma and where is it coming from? Morning commuters walking along Fulton Street at Clinton Avenue have been asking just that as the smell of “pain au chocolat” wafts through the air.

The scent is coming from Autour du Monde, a restaurant recently opened by Olivier Jimenez and his chef-partner Pascal Bettig in the space that formerly housed Bodegas.

While both have worked on numerous restaurant openings — they met while working at Park Slope mainstay Belleville — for Jimenez this is the first one that involves his own money.

“It’s totally different,” he said. “You have to be there all the time — it’s like your baby.”

The menu is eclectic and boldly international — Autour du Monde is French for “around the world” — with elements of French, Spanish, Caribbean and Asian cuisines. Breakfast is about sweets and strong coffee, while sandwiches take the main stage at lunch and each evening different tapas will be served in addition to rotisserie chickens.

Autour du Monde (860 Fulton St. at Clinton Avenue in Clinton Hill) accepts cash only. Entrees: $13-$19. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Sunday, and dinner daily. Subway: C to Clinton-Washington. For information, call (718) 398-3500.
