More than 100 anti-war activists gathered in Grand Army Plaza on Wednesday night to rue the fifth anniversary of the war in Iraq, and to remember the nearly 4,000 Americans and tens of thousands of Iraqis killed since March 19, 2003.

The protest continued with a march down Flatbush Avenue and ended with a vigil at the Army recruiting station on Livingston Street.

Earlier in the day, President Bush defended the decision to invade Iraq: “Removing Saddam Hussein from power was the right decision, and this is a fight that America can and must win.”
