On Saturday, March 29, Denise Carbonell and Derek Dominy will open the doors of Metal and Thread, their new handcrafted wares boutique in Red Hook.
Shoppers are invited to peruse the collection of works — handmade by half-a-dozen local artists, who will be on hand to chat — while guitarist Smitty on Steel plays live, beginning at 2 pm.
“It’s a place of interesting objects,” Carbonell told GO Brooklyn, saying that the merchandise ranges from furniture to mobiles to bright, modern baby quilts ($245) in natural fibers stitched by Carbonell.
“[Much of the collection] is very affordable, unique and one of a kind,” continued Carbonell. “It’s cool on both levels.”
Metal and Thread is located at 398 Van Brunt St. between Dikeman and Coffey streets in Red Hook. For hours and more information, call (718) 414-9651 or visit the Web site, www.metalandthread.etsy.com.
