‘Vino’ Fossella: The people speak

The Brooklyn Paper

What do Bay Ridge residents think of Rep. Vito Fossella since his May 1 drunk driving arrest? We hit the streets to find out.

This is just terrible. He’s setting a very bad example for the youth. I know he said it won’t happen again, but it just shouldn’t have happened the first time. — Therese Brown

He’s a hypocrite, plain and simple. He lost my vote because he could have killed someone when he got behind the wheel. — Victor Rodriguez

They’re all the same, these politicians — each and every one of them thinks they’re above the law. — Peter Lasky

It’s ridiculous that he’d do this when he represents Bay Ridge — when he represents us. There’s absolutely no excuse for it. I’d never drink and drive. — Brigette Kozlin

i think everyone should leave him alone. if this affair hasn't impacted his ability to work all these years only pressure form everyone will cause it to do so. this woman is financially set from retirement from the airforce. really does she need his money??
men do this all the time and it never becomes public, but hurts the children involved if any, now no one seems to care about his children, because we just love making everything public & shamefull.

Michael from Bay Ridge says:
There is no problem with his having an affair (as far as his work is concerned), but drunk driving is an entirely different matter. It's both illegal and reckless.
It shows poor judgement and a disregard for the safety of others.
I am not sure what he should do as a result, but a serious error like this requires a serious response.

Diane from Bay Ridge says:
Now we know how he spends all that lobbyist money and why he's absent from the House floor so often - and when he's there, he only hurts us. (He voted against, yes against, sending NYC more 911 funds - he must have been drunk then too)
