Here is the man whom police say robbed the Bay Ridge Commerce Bank on Fifth Avenue on Dec. 23.
According to police, this unshaven, 6-foot, fortysomething suspect entered the bank, which is at 82nd Street, at around 2:50 pm and handed a teller a note stating he wanted money and had a bomb.
He then revealed a device around his neck that had a flashing blue light. At that point, the teller handed over $4,164 in cash and the crook ran away.
Police say the thief wore a tan Modell’s baseball cap, red scarf, blue jacket, tan pants and dark sunglasses during the robbery.
It is unclear whether this incident was related to a robbery at the new Alma Bank on Fifth Avenue at 85th Street two days earlier. In that case, the robber — who made off with $392 — had covered his face with a ski mask.
Anyone with information about the Commerce Bank robbery is asked to call Det. Paul Courtney at (212) 384-5000 or Crimestoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
