Lines are drawn

There was lots of confusion at the corner of Old Fulton Street and Front Street in DUMBO because a city repaving eliminated key traffic lines. This minivan, for example, was trying to go where no cars have gone before.

The Department of Transportation says it will repaint lanes along Front Street in DUMBO by the end of the week after a routine street repaving left drivers (like this mini-van driver) confused about where to go.

There were no accidents or complaints along the short, two-way portion of Front Street between Old Fulton and Dock streets, a Transportation spokesman said, adding that the lines were left unpainted because traffic engineers thought the existing island would properly separate the drivers.
