Recchia: Bad loan not my fault

The Brooklyn Paper

Councilman Domenic Recchia said a case of internal corruption at a non-profit that he funded has nothing to do with him.

Recchia (D–Coney Island) said he directed $690,000 to the Sephardic Angel Fund because it does good work in the community.

As part of its coverage of the ongoing City Council “slush fund” scandal, the Daily News played up Recchia’s role in funding a group that improperly gave a board member a $50,000 interest-free loan.

But the councilman, who is expected to soon announce his run for borough president, said, “I don’t do anything with the day-to-day operations [of the non-profit]. Of course, a board member should not give him or herself a loan. Something happened, and they corrected it. I did nothing wrong here.”

ROSALIE907 from GRAVESEND says:
What a bunch of crap. Recchia through his friends the Sitt Family and Thor Equities would sell his soul and probably has. Look at how he had people believing he was running for Congress in the 13th CD and then wouldn't show up at endorsement meetings both in Brooklyn and on Staten Island and keep stating that he wasn't running for BP. Now it comes out that he will be running for BP.

Hey DeBlasio, make sure he returns your check for (I believe) $250 and don't send it back since he'll be running against you. See, we told you Recchia would stab you in the back.

When sitting down to interview a politician the first thought in your head should be "why is this man lying to me?"
