Wishing that you could enjoy just a few more of those wacky summer days — and nights — on the beach in Coney Island?
Well, Insectavora — the fire-eating cast member of the Coney Island Sideshow — is about to release a new DVD, “The Coriolis Effect,” with her band Paint the Walls Red that includes videos directed by Jim Riffel. (For those who can’t wait, the band’s singles are available online at myspace.com/paintthewallsred and the videos are on YouTube.com.)
The heavily inked and pierced Insectavora is the lead singer, of course, and her voice transforms from a Grace Slick-“White Rabbit” sound in “More Love For You” to a childlike crooning in the humorous revenge song “The S— Has Hit the Fan.”
“We originally were going to shoot a music video for ‘The S— Has Hit The Fan’ and that was going to be it,” Riffel told GO Brooklyn. “But Angelica [aka Insectavora] has a very ‘up-for-anything-100-mile-per-hour’ personality and that kind of energy ends up being contagious. Everyone was having a great time, and so we just kept shooting one right after the other.”
Imagine how that energy will fuel a live rock show?
