Grand Army Plaza is a traffic nightmare — but starting next week, it’ll host a tantalizing exhibition of what might lie in store.
On Sept. 13, 30 winning entries from a contest to redesign the once illustrious gateway to Prospect Park will go on display underneath the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch, where citizens can view how the space might look in several years, explained event organizer Deborah Marton, the executive director of the Design Trust for Public Space.
Among the designs are plans to create a permanent greenmarket and reconfigure traffic patterns to allow easier pedestrian access to the center plaza.
“Reinventing Grand Army Plaza,” will open with a party on Sept. 13 from 11 am to 4 pm.
