Councilman Bill DeBlasio is running away with the race to succeed Borough President Markowitz — the money race, that is.
DeBlasio (D–Carroll Gardens) has raised nearly $446,000 in the race for Borough Hall against Councilman Charles Barron (D–Canarsie), the only other declared candidate.
“I feel good,” DeBlasio told The Brooklyn Paper. “We had a very strong campaign finance filing this month.”
Not only is DeBlasio ahead of the game, but he already has a Web site in anticipation of the upcoming election (www. billdeblasio.com).
Not so Barron. Apparently adopting a more laid-back approach to the election — still a year-and-a-half away — Barron has raised a whopping $920.
He was out of the country until the end of the month, his spokeswoman said, and could not be reached for comment. She declined to elaborate.
