A Saturday Greenmarket is blooming in Bay Ridge, offering grocery-starved neighbors a satiating solace after the shuttering of a beloved Key Food. Here’s a breakdown of the farmers and food purveyors who will be hawking their wares at the corner of Third Avenue and 95th Street from 8 am until 5 pm every Saturday until December:

“Water buffalo is lower in fat and cholesterol than beef, and the dairy is low in lactose,” said Frank Abballe, whose company, Bufala di Vermont, sells buffalo mozzarella

“The stuff you buy at the supermarket is no more nutritious than corn syrup — our honey hasn’t been heated, so it contains all of the healthy antioxidants," said Andrew Cote of Andrew’s Local Honey.

“We don’t spray and we don’t use chemicals, so it’s better for you,” said Harold Naupri of Caral Farms.

“We pick everything fresh, so it tastes better,” said Hector Perez of Alex Farms, which sells apples and pears.

“The stuff at the supermarket is all frozen. This is directly off the boast, it’s all fresh and locally caught,” said Glenn Vickelman of American Seafood.

“It’s fresh, it’s organic, and it’s healthy food. Everything we use — even the flour — it’s all organic,” said Tamdin Wangyal of Bread Alone.
