The long-awaited construction of the Long Island Rail Road’s Flatbush Avenue terminal at the chaotic intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Hanson Place will be done by next spring, agency spokeswoman Susan McGowan said on Wednesday.
That’s good news for commuters (and Target shoppers) who have had to walk on Flatbush Avenue, facing oncoming traffic, just to get to the temporary station and inside Atlantic Terminal Mall.
Contractors have installed the atrium skylight and exterior glass curtain wall, and started work on the brick and limestone exteriors. Work on new interior walls, customer restrooms, a ticket office and waiting areas has also begun, said McGowan.
