Cold cocked on Christmas

Xmas evil

An assailant cold-cocked and mugged a restaurant deliveryman on Mill Street on Christmas Eve.

The 43-year-old victim told police that someone clobbered him from behind with an unknown object between Hicks and Henry streets at 8:10 pm, stole his phone and the food he was delivering. Paramedics took the fallen courier to New York Methodist Hospital.

Grinch city

A burglar smashed a parked car’s window on New Year’s Eve and stole the holiday gifts it contained on Congress Street.

The driver said he parked between Henry and Hicks streets at 6 pm and came back on New Year’s Day at 3 pm to find a rear window shattered and a DVD system, rocking horse and other belated Christmas gifts missing.

While away

An Amity Street woman discovered on Jan. 1 that she had been burglarized while she was on vacation.

The resident, 29, could not discern how the intruder entered her home, which is between Henry and Clinton streets, but the thief took her laptop, camera, credit cards and several bags sometime between Dec. 20 and New Year’s Day.

Out of the sky

Burglars broke into a Beard Street business through the skylight overnight on Dec. 31 and stole a motley mix of office supplies.

The business owner reported losing 200 postal stamps, coins, three calculators and three staplers. The offices, between Van Brunt and Richards streets, were shut from 7:30 pm to 7:20 am.
