It doesn’t get much bigger than this in Park Slope: Ira Glass is coming to town! And it’s for a good cause!
Glass, the thinking woman’s George Clooney and host of public radio show, “This American Life,” will join National Public Radio reporters Alex Blumberg and Adam Davidson in a discussion about the economy called, “How Did We Get Here and Where Are We Going?”
The June 18 event is a fundraiser for PS 107, the Eighth Avenue school that has become a veritable salon for local writers (even the elusive Jonathan Safran Foer, the greatest writer of his generation, read there this year).
The goal of this particular event is to “dissect exactly what happened to the economy … and how [these reporters] tell stories about this stuff so it makes sense to someone who is not an investment banker,” the school’s PTA said.
Then again, Ira Glass could basically just sit there and at least half of the audience would be satisfied.
PS 107 [1301 Eighth Ave., at 13th Street in Park Slope, (718) 330-9340], June 18, 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 and can be bought at www.ps107.org.
