The reeling Cyclones need a new slugger!

The team, after going on a 16–2 run to start the season, has dropped five of its last six games — and the starting lineup is beginning to look like a hospital ward.

The team’s best hitter, Matt Bouchard, whose .404 batting average jolted the team during its initial run, is out with a season-ending torn labrum.

Meanwhile, another key to the Cyclones’ early season offensive barrage, Luis Rivera, has cooled off. And Sam Honeck, who has been hitting the ball a ton since the winning streak ended, has just come up lame with a pulled groin.

The whole situation leaves manager Pedro Lopez hoping someone will fill what has become a huge void.

“We need someone else to step up,” Lopez said after Tuesday’s loss, which followed dropping three of four to the hated Yankees last weekend.

Still, Lopez said that he doesn’t feel any pressure, even as the pitching and batting has collapsed since the winning streak ended.

“The good thing about baseball is you always get a new game,” Lopez said.
