If you are thinking of heading to Amsterdam

The Brooklyn Paper

KLM has three daily non-stops from JFK to Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport that can get you on the ground in Holland in just six hours. Best bet is to take an overnight flight, so you can hit the ground running early in the morning. Visit www.klm.com for booking information.

From Schipol, there are regular trains to Amsterdam’s Centraal Station. Visit www.schiphol.nl for info.

A top-end hotel near the station is the Grand Hotel Amrath [108 Prins Hendrikkade, 31 (020) 552-0000]. Visit www.amrathamsterdam.com for info.

Bikes can be rented from MacBike [5 Stationsplein, 620-0985]. Open daily from 9 am to 5:45 pm. Visit www.macbike.nl for info.

Taxis are expensive, but trams and the subway go everywhere. Visit www.amsterdam.info/transport/metro for info.

And it may sound cheesy, but there’s nothing better than a canal boat tour. Captain Matthys Meyers offers a great one on a classic saloon boat. Visit www.privateboattours.nl for info.
