Call 911?

A gun-toting thief robbed a cellphone store on Myrtle Avenue on July 20, escaping before anyone could call 911 on the scores of mobile phones in the shop.

The scoundrel burst into the Verizon Wireless outlet, between Vanderbilt and Clinton avenues, and brandished a firearm at 12:31 pm. An employee gave the robber $200 from the cash register.

Bejeweled

A prowler nabbed a bevy of jewelry from a Clermont Avenue apartment on July 21

The 56-year-old resident, whose building is between Park and Myrtle avenues, said she was in the basement apartment from 6 am to 6 pm.

When she returned to the second floor, she discovered that someone had stolen four pairs of diamond earrings, two necklaces, four diamond tennis bracelets, two gold wedding bands, a diamond ring and a watch. She believes the burglar entered through the kitchen window which opens onto the fire escape.

Hell on wheels

Two bike-riding hoodlums mugged a woman early on July 23 on Clinton Avenue.

One of the pedal-pushing punks rode in front of the 22-year-old victim at 5:25 am, blocking her way near the corner of Gates Avenue. His partner came from behind and covered her mouth.

When she tried to scream for help, one of the rogues sprayed Mace in her face.

They stole her wallet, containing $15.

Bank robbery

Two men robbed a Fulton Street bank on July 24.

The thieves entered the Capital One branch near the corner of Clinton Avenue at 2:40 pm and passed a note demanding $5,000 in 20- and 50-dollar bills. It also said: “No dye packs, no alarms, no one gets hurt.”

The teller quickly gave the criminals an unknown amount of cash from her drawer.

The bank had its grand-opening ceremony days earlier.

Boys to men

Three men stole hundreds of pairs of jeans from a national clothing chain on Atlantic Avenue on July 24.

The trio raided the boys section of Old Navy, between Fort Greene Place and S. Portland Avenue, at 3:55 pm and allegedly stole 224 pairs of dungarees.
