Frank talk about Joe Sitt’s Coney Island plan

The Brooklyn Paper

Frank Hoier is fightin’ mad about Joe Sitt’s plans for Coney Island, so he wrote a new song, “Talkin’ Joe Sitt Blues” for this week’s “Rhythm and News” feature.

Take it away, Frank.

The Ballad of Joe Sitt

Joe Sitt is a man

who’s been buying up the land

for redevelopment and renewal

Joe made it big you know

sellin’ big women clothes

And he’s got big plans for Coney Island, too

Joe bought up Coney Isle

said he played there as a child

paid 100 million bucks or more

that sure is a lot of dough

to have a “sandbox” all your own

I hope he don’t charge us to play down by the shore

Have you seen the plans

for the hotel by the Coney sands?

It’s a sight to see, oh my oh my

pyrotechnic elephants, go for a ride in the flying blimp

And somethin’ about a big ol’ indoor waterslide

Well I don’t know about you,

but I like my ocean blue.

I like my sand without broken glass.

How can ya tell, how can ya tell

a hotel’ll make Coney Island well?

How can ya tell it’ll attract more or less trash?

Joe Sitt is a man

who’s been buying up the land

for redevelopment and renewal

Joe made it big you know

sellin’ big women clothes

And he’s got big plans for Coney Island too

(words and music by Frank Hoier)

What's next? The ballad of the guy who heisted Gersh's bike? The ballad of fiction writer Stephen "King" Witt?

al pankin from downtown says:
joe sitt will need big plans to revitalize that depressed area. it is really pathetic how the politicans let coney island go down the tube for the past fifty years...in most normal places you build luxury, market rate homes near a beach, they sell at a premium...why does new york city put subsidised housing near a beach? they are nuts.

Frank Hoier from Bushwick, Brooklyn says:
I just got a personal message from Joe Sitt thanking me for the song. What a cool guy!

PS: easy on the negative comments people. I have to write a song every two weeks on local topics in Brooklyn. Not so easy, as you may imagine. I'm having fun! Try sayin' somethin' nice for once!
