In the heat of the campaign to succeed City Councilman Bill DeBlasio, candidate Josh Skaller’s wife Kelly gave birth to the couple’s second child, a daughter named Selah, at New York Methodist Hospital on Aug. 7.
Like campaigning for a city council seat itself, Kelly Skaller’s labor was arduous, and she remained at the hospital until Aug. 13. Mother and daughter and are now resting comfortably, and dad is back on the campaign trail.
Another candidate in the race, John Heyer, is about to have a baby, but his wife’s pregnancy will not reach full term until after the Sept. 15 Democratic primary, which is tantamount to election in a district that includes liberal areas such as Windsor Terrace, Park Slope, Cobble Hill and Gowanus.
Two other candidates — Bob Zuckerman and Gary Reilly — are childless. Brad Lander has two kids.
