Community Newspaper Group’s 30 newspapers published endorsements this week in citywide and local Democratic Primary contests.
The newspapers were nearly unanimous in recommending Bill Thompson as the Democratic standard-bearer to face Mike Bloomberg in November (one newspaper made no endorsement) but picked competing horses in the Comptroller, Public Advocate and local City Council races.
Each CNG newspaper group — Courier-Life Publications and The Brooklyn Paper in Brooklyn, TimesLedger Newspapers in Queens, the Bronx Times-Reporter, and the citywide Caribbean Life — made its own endorsements.
The endorsements were made after CNG hosted debates and forums covering 20 races in which all candidates participated. Video of thee debates and forums, as well as news coverage, can be viewed at BoroPolitics.com.
