Set your calendars and grab your tea bags — Rep. Mike McMahon is bringing the health care town hall craziness to Bay Ridge on Tuesday!
The freshman congressman has carved out a moderate role in the health care debate in Washington, but was nonetheless harangued by protesters at a similar town hall meeting on Staten Island earlier this month.
Given the passions that health care reform has stoked — not only among McMahon’s Bay Ridge and Staten Island constituents, but with national organizations such as the self-styled, anti-tax Tea Party — Tuesday’s forum is expected to get ugly.
More than 800 people attended the earlier event, some with signs and many with loud voices.
The announcement of the forum, which just popped into our Inbox this afternoon, urged voters to remain calm.
“Rep. McMahon asks that constituents limit the use of signs or props during the town hall to ensure that all in attendance are able to see, listen and participate without obstruction,” the statement said.
