Chivalry is dead

The Brooklyn Paper

Bar bum

A perp sidled up to a woman and gallantly offered to escort her to a Meeker Street bar on Oct. 9 — then snatched her purse en route to the watering hole.

The 27-year-old was talking on her iPhone at around 2:45 am when the crook approached her, made his offer of taking her to Daddy’s Bar, near Frost Street, and then grabbed the purse.

The brave woman gave chase, but the perp he jumped into a blue minivan — but not before punching the victim.

Note taker

A sneaky thief broke into a van that had been parked on Greenpoint Avenue near West Street on Oct. 6.

The crafty crook had popped the lock of back door sometime between 10:30 am to 3:40 pm, and stole three drills and an electric epoxy gun. The crook got away, but the victim did get a clue when someone left a note on the windshield that read, “A gray silver car pulled up and then someone broke into the back of the van. The license plate is ETP-6455.”

Candid camera

A lock-cracking crook broke through a Driggs Avenue food store’s roll-down gate and made off with the cash register on Oct 6.

Cameras caught the perp breaking through the front glass door of the store, which is near Monitor Street, at around 2:13 am. The camera also captured the happy hoodlum as he went in and out of the store twice before removing the cash register and fleeing.

Spidey crook

A crook climbed a fire escape and broke into a Roebling Street home on Oct. 6.

The spider-like perp lifted an array of laptops between 4 pm and 9:45 pm from the victim’s home, which is near N. Sixth Street.

Spiderman II

Two perps broke into a Leonard Street apartment through the fire escape and got away with lots of fancy electronics on Oct. 11.

The victim told cops that he was not in the apartment, which is near Nassau Avenue, between 3 and 7 pm when the perps literally turned the apartment upside down.

When the victim returned, he discovered a ransacked apartment that was absent some cash, an Apple laptop, a Sony CD player, and a video camera.
