‘Trail’ of cheers: Conrad Keely leads ‘Trail of Dead’ to Music Hall

For some, Williamsburg is a post-collegiate playground dotted with discos and drinking establishments. For Conrad Keely — the lead singer in the indie rock band …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead — it’s an inspiration.

“It can be cold and impersonal, but when I’m here, I feel like I have to be doing something,” said the singer, whose band will play the Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday, Feb. 27, in support of its forthcoming album, “The Century of Self.”

Living in Williamsburg has also allowed the singer — who achieved national acclaim in 2002 with the epic record “Sources Tags and Codes” — to absorb music that differs greatly from his group’s anthemic albums.

“Being able to walk from your apartment to Glasslands, Death by Audio and the Music Hall gives you the sense that there are so many thing happening right on your doorstep — it’s very comforting,” he said.

Not just for him. Keeley has collaborated with Brooklyn rockers including Yeasayer and the Dragons of Zynth, extending his influence beyond his own group.
