Put down that Brooklyn, Kelso or Sixpoint, craft beer lovers — Mission Dolores, the new Park Slope beer garden from the folks at Bar Great Harry, is here to salvage you from drinking the same ol’ beer.
“There’s good beer at every bar, but craft beer has become a little bit ubiquitous, especially in Brooklyn,” said Ben Wiley, who owns Mission Dolores with his brother, Mike. “We devote a lot of our time to putting stuff on our taps that you don’t see.”
Indeed, while these days every Brooklyn bar worth its salty pretzels stocks a Brooklyn Lager and a Dogfish Head IPA, you’ll see none of that at Mission Dolores.
Instead you’ll find Brooklyn Brewery’s Brooklyn Blast and Dogfish Head Chicory Stout. You’ll also get harder-to-find brews like Pretty Things from Massachusetts.
The truth is, you can never be quite sure just what you’ll find at Mission Dolores, as the 20 draft lines and one cask rotate pretty much non-stop.
“You can spend two hours in here and see a new beer go up,” said Wiley.
Other attractions include two pinball machines — Indiana Jones for the pros, and Lord of the Rings for the rookies — which the Wiley brothers will rotate with other pinball machines stocked elsewhere.
For the late night munchies, the bar also stocks DUB pies.
Warm weather, open air and 20 rotating taps — it doesn’t get much better than this.
