This art project is for the birds — literally!

There’s fowl play going on in Fort Greene Park’s northwest corner — and visitors are flocking to see it.

Artists Daniel Goers and Jennifer Wong have used recycled materials and pilot techniques to build “Myrtle Avenue Bird Town at Person Square,” a micro-community that is as colorful as the wrens, finches and starlings that are beginning to roost there.

With a grant from the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership, the feather-friendly pair from Prospect Lefferts Gardens rummaged through Dumpsters, solicited storeowners and visited construction sites to collect tin, metal, wood and glass — among the disgarded gear they used to create the playful perches near a small patch of green named for World War I veteran Joseph Walter Person, who died in 1918.

“It really brightens up the space,” said Wong. “We saw people walking by, looking up and saying, ‘Oh, I didn’t see that there before!’ ”

It’s not just about art; Goers and Wong hope their project will also fly with their main customers, the birds themselves.

Wong and Goers will host special events through the course of their seven-month-long installation. Starting this weekend, there’s a South of the Navy Yards Artists stroll, plus a workshop on building your own feeder — supplies will be provided.
