When it’s this hot outside, there are really only a two things worth consuming: ice cream, and iced tea.
Fortunately, Cobble Hill’s One Girl Cookies has combined the two into a sweet summer treat that’s as cooling as it is delicious.
The Sicilian Float ($3.50) is one part Teany peach iced tea and one part exquisite fruit sorbet sourced from Il Laboratorio del Gelato in Manhattan.
“It really is a Sicilian float,” said bakery owner Dawn Casale. “My mom was born in Sicily and they drink it literally all day. I came home from a trip from Sicily and decided it needed to be on the menu. It makes the hot weather totally bearable.”
Traditionally, the concoction is peach iced tea with lemon sorbet, though at One Girl the sorbet flavors vary from day to day. The version we sampled, a peach-on-peach variety, was like a bone-chilling, fresh-picked peach, welcome relief from the relentless midday sun.
“My favorite is peach with lemon sorbet — I guess I’m a purist at heart,” said Casale.
Pair it with one of One Girl’s trademark itty-bitty cookies and even this weather can’t get you down.
