You’re going to have a lousy, rotten commute tomorrow, but your kids will have the day off.
Hours before the Blizzard of the Century was expected to hit New York, city schools chancellor Joel Klein cancelled all public school classes for Wednesday.
All after-school activities are also cancelled — the second whammy for working parents.
“While travel conditions to school in the morning may not be difficult, the weather is expected to worsen as the day progresses, complicating dismissal,” Klein said in a statement. “We are making this decision today to give parents as much time as possible to make alternative plans for tomorrow.”
In a related story, the Archdiocese of Brooklyn announced that it had also cancelled all its classes.
And the Department of Transportation has just announced that alternate-side-of-the-street parking has been suspended on Wednesday — though parking meters will remain in effect.
