The annual Animation Block Party film festival is kicking off at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with a screening of 1996 Bugs Bunny-meets-basketball blockbuster “Space Jam” in 35mm. The fest, which runs through July 27, will also screen shorts, indie animations, and ’toons from around the globe.

Dozens of DIY publishers and artists will gather at Pete’s Candy Store for its annual Pete’s Mini Zine Fest, which claims to be “the longest running zine fest in Brooklyn (that also happens to be held in a bar).” The lineup includes The Brooklyn Paper’s very own Bartoonist, Bill Roundy, so go get your favorite Barscrawl signed.

Hip-hop stars Kendrick Lamar, French Montana, Wale, and Fabolous will go head-to-head — on the basketball court. Each entertainer will coach a team of NBA stars and street-ball players when the Entertainers Basketball Classic comes to Barclays Center. Lamar, Fabolous, and Wale will also perform, alongside Big Sean.
