1,000 turkeys at Borough Hall – just for the holiday

Brooklyn Deputy Borough President Yvonne Graham was talking turkey, turkey and more turkey as she helped dispense tons of holiday cheer outside Borough Hall during the annual Thanksgiving food drive.

Borough Hall Plaza, Joralemon Street between Court and Clinton streets, sparkled with the spirit of the season as Graham led legions of staffers and vollies in giving away 1,000 gobblers and seven tons of trimmings to representatives from nearly 100 community groups.

The turkeys, sweet potatoes, apples, collard greens and baking potatoes will be distributed to senior centers, soup kitchens, churches and women’s shelters, providing holiday dinners to boroughites who need them most.

This year’s sponsors included FreshDirect, Amalgamated Bank, Boars Head Provisions, the Court-Livingston-Schermerhorn Business Improvement District, Fairway Market, the Fulton Street Mall Improvement Association, Health Plus, the Korean-American Brooklyn Association, and Whole Foods Market.
