81st Street replaces traffic with good times

Sponge Bob Square Pants came to Dyker Heights to make a few pint-size friends.

It was like having a carnival in your front yard.

Kids living on 81st Street between 10th and 11th avenues were smiling from ear to ear last week as their Dyker Heights block morphed into a non-stop fun station with express trains filled with summertime glee running 24/7.

A bounce house, bike races, basketball hoops and a food court filled with barbecue delights were just steps away from their home and their proud parents’ arms. What could be better?
