Optical illusion
A near-sighted burglar stole 50 pairs of designer sunglasses from a Graham Avenue eyeglasses store on Aug. 8.
The burglar broke the lock on the gate of New York Optical, off Cook Street, at 6 am, smashing the store’s windows with a metal pipe. The thief then grabbed as many Gucci, Prada, and Armani sunglasses as he could carry and fled.
Phone force
A thief took a man’s cellphone on S. Fifth Street on Aug. 8, threatening to shoot him if he squealed to the cops.
The thief approached the victim at 5:15 pm near Keap Street, pushing him from behind and demanding, “Give me your cellphone.”
When the victim said no, the thug took the Blackberry, threatened, “If you call the cops I’m going to shoot you in the face,” and ran.
Cash grab
A robber stole a woman’s pocketbook Manhattan Avenue on Aug. 7, but was arrested a few hours later.
The thief approached the woman near Montrose Avenue at 4:49 am, and grabbed her pocketbook after a struggle, overpowering her. The robber ran off with $77 but was apprehended a few blocks away.
Midway thief
A burglar ransacked a S. Fourth Street apartment of its property on Aug. 6, but he dropped half of the stolen items when tenants caught him in the hallway.
The burglar broke into the unlocked apartment near Kent Avenue at 12:30 am and grabbed a handful of wallets and phones. But the tenants encountered him inside the building, and he split, taking only one man’s phone and wallet with him.
Toyota taken
A thief stole a man’s new truck from S. Second Street overnight Aug. 6.
The driver told cops that he’d parked his car at 2 pm near Keap Street. When he returned the next morning, it was gone.
Morgan mission
A thug robbed a man on Morgan Avenue on Aug. 6 and fled in a red getaway car.
The robber followed his victim near Grattan Street at 12:45 am, and sneaked up behind, saying, “Be quiet. I have a gun — don’t make any sudden moves.”
The thief grabbed the man’s wallet and phone, punched him in the face and fled into a red SUV parked nearby.
Plymouth plundered
A thief took a man’s van from Berry Street.
The driver told cops that he had parked his car at 10 pm on Aug. 3 near S. Eighth Street, but it was gone when he returned two days later.

Mcburglary
A thief broke into a woman’s unlocked McKibbin Street apartment and stole her stuff while her friend slept through the whole thing.
The thief broke into the apartment near Seigel Street after 7:30 pm and took the tenant’s laptop and fanny pack.
Her friend, who was in the apartment asleep, didn’t wake up until the tenant returned at 3 am to rouse her.
Frame frame-up
A burglar broke into a Thames Avenue art supply store overnight on Aug. 4 and stole a pile of tools.
The thief drilled a hole in the side of the wall and broke into the store near Porter Avenue after it closed at 6 pm. The thief made off with two drills, two computers, a tool box and a digital camera.
When the owner returned at 8:30 am the next morning, he found the store’s stuff was gone.
Laptop break
A thief stole two laptops from a Seigel Street loft on Aug. 5 while its tenants were asleep.
The burglar entered the building’s unlocked rear door near Bogart Street at 4 am, helping himself to two Macbooks and $60.
A tenant woke up two hours later and discovered the crime.
Maujer marauders
Four perps who are believed to be members of the Trinitario gang jumped out of a van on Aug. 2 and stabbed a cyclist riding down Maujer Street with an ice pick on his leg and arm.
The perps were parked near Bushwick Avenue when they left the car at 1 pm and stopped the cyclist at 1 pm. The thugs started punching him, and then one pulled out the ice pick and stabbed the victim twice.
Family garden
A burglar broke into a Metropolitan Avenue restaurant on Aug. 2, stealing $200 and its cash register.
The thief broke into the restaurant near Lorimer Street after midnight, smashing both its padlocks and rolling up the gate before helping himself to the register and all the cash inside.
When the owner returned at 10:30 the next morning, she discovered the damage.
