The Chinese Dancers of David A. Boody School for Magnet Studies-IS 228 led a contingent of 50 marching students from the school down 18th Avenue in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn during the borough’s Columbus Day Parade.
The dancers, under the direction of Shuya Zang, performed precise routines with fans and their colorful costumes. They were accompanied by Boody’s cheerleading team, led by Nihal Boz, and other students from the school, 228 Avenue S in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn.
“It was appropriate that we celebrated the man who discovered America with a parade that featured a melting pot of students from around the world,” said Boody Principal Dominick A. D’Angelo. “We have one of the most diverse student bodies in New York City and it was exciting to see our Chinese dancers performing for the large number of new Chinese immigrants watching the parade.”
Boody’s Chinese dancers perform at events throughout Brooklyn. The school’s Symphony Orchestra and Concert Band also perform at major venues throughout the city.
