Annual golf outing honors U.S. military

The Capt. John McKenna and LCPL Glover Foundation will host the New York Honors Her Military Heroes: Third Annual Golf Outing⁄Dinner at the newly renovated Dyker Beach Golf Course, June 15.

Join Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund, Senator Marty Golden, Brooklyn Borough President Markowitz, Super Bowl Great Larry Brown, NY Knick Earl “The Pearl” Monroe, Tenor Daniel Rodriguez, Nashville’s Stephen Cochran, FOX 5’s Mike Sheehan and others, in honoring our returning heroes of today and yesterday.

Also invited are NY Giant Justin Tuch and boxing great Gerry Cooney.

Special recognition will be given to Iwo Jima victors: NYPD Detective T. McGhee, and Mike Valenzo of Met Food.

Tee off is at 12:30 p.m. Admission for golf, lunch and dinner is $300 per golfer; the dinner and ceremony is only $115. Cocktails are served at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner⁄ceremony commences at 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds benefit the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, NYS Trooper Foundation, Capt. McKenna & Lance Corporal Glover Foundation, and the Senior Enlisted Council of New York. Capt. McKenna is the highest ranking Brooklyn Marine to be killed in the war; he received the Silver Star — the third highest medal for heroism — for his bravery.
