Vincent C. Battista, executive director of the Institute of Design and Construction (IDC), will be honored with a Distinguished Achievement Award by the Brooklyn Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) at its biennial dinner dance, May 7 at El Caribe Country Club, 5945 Strickland Avenue.
Battista will receive his award in honor of his dedication to providing high−quality education in the fields of architecture, interior design and the building construction industry. He also has earned a national reputation as a critic and instructor in architectural design, and in site planning and design through IDC’s Division of Architectural License Preparation.
“Vinnie is a tremendous asset to the Aâ„Eâ„C industry, and we are pleased to present him with this award,” noted Frank LoPresto, president of AIA−Brooklyn and a former instructor at IDC. “Under his guidance, many practitioners have achieved their goals as registered architects.”
A 30−year veteran of design and construction, Battista is a member of the AIA and the Commission of Independent Colleges and Universities. He sits on the Board of Governors for the alumni association of LaSalle Military Academy, and has served as an elected member to the Community School Board District 19 of the New York City Department of Education.
Other awardees include Joseph P. Trivisnoono, AIA, with a Lifetime Achievement Award; Michael J. Macaluso, FARA, with an Advancement of the Architectural Profession Award; and Vincent Dicce, LS, with a Distinguished Service Award.
All proceeds from the dinner will benefit architectural students through the Brooklyn Architects Scholarship Foundation, Inc., which was established in 1924.
